It’s been a while since we’ve gotten our indie-hungry hands on another succulent slice of Tim Burton non-mainstream movie genius. Well, lookie here we’ve got a set of brand new character images from Frankenweenie

, which is set to be released in October.

Have a peek at the stunning portraits, courtesy of NukeTheFridge:

They look great, right? In there we’ve got a sneak preview of Victor Frankenstein, Sparky the dog, Mr Frankenstein, Elsa Van Helsing, Persephone, Toshiaki, Bob, and Bob’s mom. From the images, it certainly looks like the movie will be rich in content and character. One thing you may notice is how much the characters resemble those from Burton’s last stop-motion piece which was a well-received, sweet and visually lovely tale of love lost. What do you think of this new bunch?

Frankenweenie is a feature-length remake of Tim Burton’s 1984 short film of the same name. This version will be a black and white, stop motion-animated 3D movie which will once again pay homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein. The plot follows a boy named Victor who uses the power of science, with a little help from a bolt of lightning, to bring his beloved dead pet dog back to life. If you haven’t already seen heart-melting trailer, catch it here.

I’m still uncertain as to whether or not Frankenweenie will be able to top the aptly named movie from indie-legend Wes Anderson, . Probably not, but I’m definitely still going to catch it in the cinema because apart from the fact that I would quite happily watch stop-motion for days on end the film looks like it’s going to be another brilliantly fine piece of Burton.
