It’s a film that people have been asking for for nigh on 20 years now, and after all this time it looks like Beetlejuice 2
might finally happen. We were given hope by Tim Burton’s decision to resurrect his previous project Frankenweenie, and then he and Johnny Depp joked about the film last month. Now, thanks to Shock Till You Drop we have the latest news on the potential sequel. While promoting Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Burton moved on to talking about Michael Keaton and Beetlejuice. The Seth that Burton talks about is none other than Seth Grahame-Smith, writer of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, who is rumored to be working on the sequel to Beetlejuice at the moment. Burton makes his intentions pretty clear, saying:
Seth is writing something, so we’ll see. I love the character but I want to just kind of look at it from a fresh perspective and see what he comes up with.
I think that means that we can pretty much be guaranteed to see a Beetlejuice 2 at some point in the near future. Now let’s just see if we can get Michael Keaton back for the lead role, and Johnny Depp and the usual Burton lot as the long-suffering Deetz family, and we’re all set for an amazing sequel.
