Looking for some smart TV this summer? Why not give Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom a try? Sorkin previously brought us the critically acclaimed series The West Wing and wrote The Social Network, both noted for the quality of their writing. The Newsroom is sure to follow in the same footsteps.
As the name suggests, the program follows the ins and outs of a newsroom, but don’t hold that against it, it’s amazingly interesting. Don’t believe us? Take a look at the latest intense teaser for the show, which premieres this Sunday, June 24 on HBO:
The Newsroom seems to follow recent real-life news events, like the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the assassination of Osama bin Laden. The show stars old hands Jeff Daniels and Sam Waterson, as well as bringing in overseas talent in the form of British actress Emily Mortimer and rising star Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire). Expect The Newsroom to be intellectual, challenging, and most of all, entertaining as hell.
Don’t miss it this Sunday on HBO.
