Christopher Nolan is playing his cards very close to his chest indeed with the last installment of his trilogy of Batman films The Dark Knight Rises
. The lack of concrete information even now, two weeks before the film is due to be released has lead to mad amounts of speculation from comic book fans and Nolan-lovers alike. These latest stills from Total Film may answer a few questions or, more likely than not, it will just raise even more, it’s not stopped us looking though.First up, another look at Anne Hathaway, standing on a some scaffolding against the Gotham skyline and looking completely bad-ass in a Catwoman’s trademark cat ears and catsuit. So far so good; it’s not a surprise, though as we were convinced a while ago that she’d be a killer Selina Kyle.

Next up Christopher Nolan talking to Christian Bale in front of a huge, totally ominous-looking machine. What does it all mean? Is it in anyway related to Bane’s Fusion Reactor? We don’t know, but we think it’ll play a pretty big part in the film.

How about this one here? we finally get a good look at Marion Cotillard’s Miranda Tate. Wait what? Who the heck is Miranda Tate? We’ve seen people speculating that she’ll be playing everyone from Poison Ivy to Talia Al Ghul. This picture sort of confuses me; I can’t believe that Cotillard will be playing a villain. She looks so nice, so normal, just like any other Gotham socialite. Perhaps that’s only her cover, or perhaps I’m reading far too much into this one.

Last but not least here’s Gary Oldman’s Commissioner Gordon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake together at last. John Blake has sort of been a cipher in the lead-up to the film; no one has any idea what does, exactly. We went as far as speculating that he might be a potential Dick Grayson replacement. Robin or Nightwing in a Nolan Batman film? unthinkable! … Or is it?

The Dark Knight Rises is less than two weeks away, and we’re still in the dark. Can anyone pierce Nolan’s shroud of mystery surrounding the project? We’d sure like to know what’s going to happen in this closing chapter of one of the greatest superhero film franchises of recent years. I highly doubt it; guess we’ll just have to queue up on July 20th and see for ourselves.
