Christopher Nolan’s choice to cast Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman has proven to be a rather controversial one. The internet is ablaze with speculation and arguments on all aspects of Hathaway’s cat credentials. Ultimately, we will have to wait until July 20th, when The Dark Knight Rises

hits theaters, to see if Hathaway will pull it off, but in the beginning, even she didn’t know what she was getting herself into!

The actress, sporting a gamine pixie cut for her upcoming role as Fantine in Les Miserables

, sat down with MTV to discuss what might have been:

I guess when Nolan comes calling, you answerregardless of what he might be offering! Following on from the comparison (or lack there of) between Jack Nicholson’s Joker in Tim Burton’s Batman and Heath Ledger’s completely transformed Joker in The Dark Knight, Hathaway has one particular feline predecessor to contend with. Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic turn as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Batman Returns is certainly a tough act to follow but let’s not forget, this is Nolan we’re talking about. He knows what he’s doing.

For anyone that still needs to be convinced of Hathaway’s ability to knock this one out of the park, check out the latest (spoilerific) featurette, and any of the trailers. In fact, even if you are convinced, go check them out anyway, you won’t regret it.

As for Hathaway’s hunch that she was going to be cast as Harley Quinn, (a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum who fell in love with the Joker and became his sidekick), have your say here:
