Two-time Oscar winner Andrew Stanton has seen some ups and downs in his career. The ups include writing and directing the charming WALLE and Oscar-winning Finding Nemo; the downs being the unmitigated disaster that was John Carter, but the less said about that, the better. Now, Deadline reports that Stanton is back with the sequel to one of his most beloved movies.
will mark the director’s fourth full-length animated feature for Pixar and hopefully a return to form for both Pixar and Stanton. The studio’s last outing, Brave, got mixed reactions when it was released last month, but it’s a hard job when every new release comes with such high expectations. In typical Pixar form, the studio refused to confirm the news as they don’t comment on projects in development, but the reports that Stanton is now attached to the sequel is certainly promising.When exactly we can expect to see Finding Nemo 2 is anyone’s guess. The prequel to Monsters Inc, Monsters University
is next up on Pixar’s slate with a trailer already doing the rounds and a June 2013 release date. Other projects in the works include The Good Dinosaur, The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dia de los Muertos and the extremely intriguing The Inside Out.
2003’s Finding Nemo boasted the voice talents of Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, Willem Dafoe, Allison Janney, Geoffrey Rush and Andrew Stanton himself as bodacious turtle dad, Crush (above). However, we have no word yet on who will be returning for the sequel.
