To the delight of everyone everywhere Marvel head honcho announced last week that Hulk would smash again in Hulk Sequel. But not for a while. At least not until after The Avengers 2. But despite the delay, this good news couldn’t help but get us speculating. Speculating over what we might see in said Hulk movie. Because it’s the weekend, my father-in-law is visiting and it’s raining I decided to put pen to paper (fingers to keys now Grandpa!) and figure out exactly what I wanted to see in the movie.

So without further ado I present to you fine folks: the Top 5 Things I Want To See In A New Hulk Movie.

1) Ruffalo

I think we can all agree: Mark Ruffalo killed it as Bruce Banner. I mean… KILLED it. No longer a sad emo kid who just wanted a girlfriend. Here was a smart, cynical but ultimately good human being who also happened to be hiding a terrible secret. But you know what? He was over it. Yes it was a nightmare and a problem for him but instead of spending hours running from the army or sobbing in a cave, this incarnation of Bruce Banner got his hands dirty and stopped complaining. This Bruce Banner MUST be continued into his own movie. If we have to see ANOTHER origin story, another scene where Betty Ross’s military Dad learns to love Banner, I think I’ll be sick. Throw Ruffalo’s cool refreshing take on the character into a scenario we haven’t seen before.

2) Double Hulks

Revealed this week on the DVD commentary of The Avengers was the fact that there were TWO Hulks running around in the movie. No not the clone kind. Director Joss Whedon explained how he saw The Hulk’s behavior dictated by how Banner transformed. When he transformed in the S.H.E.I.L.D. Helicarrier it was in the grip of rage and anger so that Hulk became a nefarious dark murderer, intent on killing Black Widow who had tricked him earlier in the film. When Banner transformed at the end of the movie to take on the Leviathan it was as a hero, letting his natural feelings take over which meant he could control himself and even take commands from the good captain. I want to see this concept explored some more. Could we see even more incarnations of the Hulk if he transforms when he’s scared? Or sad? Or even super happy? I would love to examine what makes the Hulk do what he does, and this would be a great way to do that.

3) Planet Hulk

I won’t rehash this popular storyline from the comics but suffice to say that Hulk ends up emperor of an alien planet. The storyline has gladiator style battles, Hulk being Hulk for 90% of the tale and even a little Hulk lovin’. I’m not saying the whole movie should be focused on this (in the comics it begins with him being shot into space) but I would love to see this story realized one day on the big screen. Maybe the first stand alone Hulk movie could lead in to Planet Hulk? That would rock.

4) Weapons

Ok, I’m not a purist. I’ll take any good idea that contradicts history if it’s a good idea. And the Hulk ripping off car doors and using them as weapons is a good idea. Sure he might not need them. He can punch through anything right? But weapons are cool and when Edward Norton’s emo Hulk went for Tim Roth villain with a piece of shrapnel, I was giddy! More of this please.

5) Stark Bromance

You know what I’m talking about, there was a romantic subplot in The Avengers but it didn’t involve any ladies. Stark and Banner found in each other kindred spirits. Starting off with playful jibes and finally moving on to sage advice. The relationship these two actors created with each other was a joy to behold and I would LOVE to see it recreated again. Stark even invited Banner back to the tower to work in his labs! Add that to the fact that the last time we saw Banner was driving off with Stark and we could have something really awesome on our hands! This romance must be allowed to flourish!

So there they are, my Top 5 Things I Want To See In A New Hulk Movie! I’m pretty sure you guys are going to disagree with me (“Weapons? This guy is an idiot.”) and that’s awesome. But do something useful with your ferocity at my ignorance and let us know what you would like to see!
