The director of The Guard reunites with his muse Brendan Gleeson
Father James Lavelle (Brendan Gleeson) is a good-natured priest primarily occupied with doing good in his Irish parish. But his efforts are constantly undermined by his bigoted, hateful community. When he receives a death threat during confession, his life is turned upside down.
John Michael McDonagh already worked with Brendan Gleeson in his celebrated first feature The Guard. In the latter Gleeson charmed audiences worldwide as a likable, slightly corrupt and foul-mouthed Irish cop who nevertheless has his heart in the right place.
