When these organizations, often driven by one charismatic personality, offer so much, trading trappings of “normal” life for the benefits of spiritual fulfillment might seem like a good idea. But what happens when those magnetic leaders turn out to have their own best interests, and not ours, in mind?
Hulu’s original series The Path follows people, played by actors including Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Hugh Dancy, and 2001: A Space Odyssey star Keir Dullea, involved in a new age belief system called Meyerism. The organization, founded by Dr. Stephen Meyer (Dullea) preaches spiritual elevation through empathy and the allegation of suffering, but a power struggle behind the scenes is driving Meyerism into spiritually murky waters.
