A ship lands on a distant planet. Its crew begins to explore, unaware that they're about to disturb a creature who would quite like to murder them, one by one, until all that's left is a lone female survivor who was smart enough to stay alive... for now.
Seeing as that was the basic premise of both the genre-defining sci-fi/horror classic Alien and its prequel Prometheus, you might think you know exactly what to expect from Alien: Covenant — but you don't. Yes, there's a heroine who looks like Ripley. Yes, there's a new ship and a new planet. But this time, it's different.
Take a look at everything we know about Alien: Covenant so far, from spoilers and theories to the latest news, rumors and trailers, all updated regularly.
'Alien: Covenant' Trailer
If I had to guess, I'd say "terraforming expert" Daniels (Katherine Waterston) and the Covenant's pilot, Tenneesee (Danny McBride), will be the last men standing once the neomorph is done murdering the crew of the ship. Tonally, Covenant looks like a hybrid of Alien's horror and the more action-heavy Aliens. No complaints there.
'Alien: Covenant' Release Date: When Is It Out?
Alien: Covenant release date: May 19, 2017 in the US and most other countries. UK audiences get to see it a week earlier, on May 11.
'Alien: Covenant' Plot: What's It About?
A prequel to Alien and sequel to Prometheus, the Alien: Covenant plot picks up ten years after Dr. Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and the decapitated android David (Michael Fassbender) survived the alien attack on LV-223.
With hundreds of passengers on board, the colony ship Covenant arrives on an "uncharted paradise" on the far side of the galaxy. As they explore, lead by the android Walter (Fassbender again) and terraforming expert Daniels (Waterston), they discover that somebody has been here before — and it's far from paradise...
While the basic premise is pretty similar to Prometheus, Covenant promises to up the stakes, massively expand the mythology of the universe and, hopefully, deliver something much closer in quality to Alien.

Where To Watch 'Alien: Covenant' Online
Don't ask about where you can stream Covenant online. The short is "you can't," and the long is "don't make me report you to the FBI." Seriously, though, whether this movie ever makes it to Netflix or not, you'll be able to stream it online legally not too long after its Digital HD and Blu-ray release, probably around October 2017.
