You never know what's around the bend on Vikings, and Season 5 is going to be one hell of an adventure. There's new threats over in East Anglia, unrest in Lagertha's kingdom, and new allegiances being formed amongst the late Ragnar's sons.
The original Viking sagas provide some guidance for where the show's story might be headed, but it can often seem impossible to predict what's going to happen next. Check out some of these #Vikings theories and see if you can figure it out:
Will Ubbe And Lagertha Hook Up?
The promo for Vikings Season 5 was released right after the Season 4 finale, and it hinted at some major developments— including romance.
Ubbe and Lagertha are seen cosying up to each other, goblets of wine in hand. Could there be romance brewing between them? We know Lagertha sees Ragnar when she looks at Ubbe, and Ubbe is all about that polyamorous life now. It's likely the two could pair off, especially since Astrid is noticeably absent from Lagertha's shieldmaiden gang. Or is Ubbe using her so he can assassinate her for killing Aslaug?
Will Ragnar's Ghost Return To 'Vikings'?
Thought you'd be seeing a certain someone return for Vikings Season 5? Think again! Despite the rumors, Travis Fimmel has stated that he will most certainly not be returning to the show, even as a ghost.
Will Björn Face Defeat In The Mediterranean?
Björn had so much fun raiding the Mediterranean that he wants to do it all over again. But the success of his last raid doesn't necessarily mean his next one will go quite as smoothly.
History spoiler! In real life, Björn did indeed return to the Mediterranean, only to face defeat at the hands of a surprise army who were eagerly awaiting his arrival. He survived and returned to Scandinavia, but lost many warriors and ships. But given the show's frequent diversion from the Viking sagas, he may very well be killed during battle.
Is Magnus Ragnar's Son?
Kwenthrith was all too happy telling every man and his dog that she'd been knocked up by the great Ragnar Lothbrok, asserting her son's right to his throne and giving Ecbert a unique card to play against the Vikings. But is it true?
Ragnar outright denied any relation to Magnus, stating that he and Kwenthrith had never even had sex— she actually just pissed on him. Ew. As weird as that is, it's not quite weird enough to put past Kinky Kwenthrith.
So who is Magnar's father? Well, it could be anyone— even Ecbert. Kwenthrith slept with quite a few men during her alliance with Ragnar, including Ecbert, his guards, and probably a few other Vikings, too.
However, it's entirely possible that Ragnar was simply lying to ensure that his Scandinavian sons wouldn't have to compete for their birthright. For all we know, Magnus could very well be the son of Ragnar Lothbrok— which could make for some interesting developments to come.
