The tragic tale of Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire is doomed to go on, as has finally greenlit not only A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2 but Season 3 as well!

On April 13, Louis Hynes (Klaus Baudelaire) announced that filming for Season 2 had begun with this Instagram snap:

The first season covered the first four books in Lemony Snicket's beloved children's series by the same name. Writer Daniel Handler (aka the real ) says that the next season is slated to cover books 5 through 9: The Austere Academy, The Ersatz Elevator, The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival. Season 3 will finish off the series with the last four books: The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End.

A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 2 will follow the story of the Baudelaire orphans from The Austere Academy, The Ersatz Elevator, The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival. After narrowly escaping from Count Olaf's clutches for the fourth time, the charming, clever and resourceful Baudelaire orphans are about to begin a new chapter of their lives at Prufrock Preparatory Academy. It would be too much to hope for that the children might have loving, supportive scholastic atmosphere to make up for all the tragedy that's befallen them, but they are about to make the acquaintance of two new intelligent youngsters like themselves: Isadora and Duncan Quagmire.

After finding themselves accomplices in a case of arson, Violet and Klaus find themselves separated from their baby sister and stranded on Mortmain Mountain. Sunny is Olaf's prisoner, forced once again to prepare meals for his wicked troupe of gluttons. Violet and Klaus have a run in with a mysterious Snow Scout, and Sunny discovers her true passion for the culinary arts. In The Grim Grotto, the three siblings are welcomed aboard a submarine called the Queequeg, before checking in to the Hotel Denouement in The Penultimate Peril. Finally, they wind up stranded on an island that's home to a surreal dystopian community, and must make a fateful choice in The End.
