The Mist Season 1 Trailers

Trailer #2 delves into gorier territory, suggesting that the show will combine psychological scares with guts and blood for a truly horrifying experience.
The Mist Season 1 Plot
Fans of Stephen King's novella will notice that the official synopsis for The Mist appears faithful to the text, reimagining the essence of the story in a new context;
“Based on a story by Stephen King, Spike’s The Mist centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.”

The Mist Season 1 Theories
— Speaking to Lilia's Library, executive producer Christian Torpe explained that Season 1 of The Mist will incorporate elements from both Stephen King's novella and Frank Darabont's movie adaptation, but the extent of these similarities remains unclear:
"It is not the same story as in the book and the movie, nor is it the same characters – but fans of the story will still see clear parallels. I’ve compared it to the way they approached adapting Fargo, not in terms of content, but in how they played with the original material. Some things are exactly the same, some are totally different. Some things you think are the same as in the original, but turn out to be something else entirely. Some things you think make no sense at first but end up tying into the original story."
— Easter Eggs uncovered in the trailer for The Dark Tower reveal plans to tie adaptations of Stephen King's work together into a shared universe, mirroring the links found in his books. So far, no obvious references have been seen in the promotional material for The Mist, but we wouldn't be surprised if connections to both Darabont's movie adaptation and other Stephen King tales appear once episodes start to air.
— #Zombies never appeared in the original source material or the movie adaptation of The Mist, but the second TV trailer for The Mist sure does imply that deceased characters may return as members of the undead.
