Box office revenue in North America was over $11 billion in 2016, the highest it's ever been. Check out the new all-time records set this year:

As expected, Disney beat last year's annual sales records set by Universal for both domestic ($2.45 billion) and worldwide ($6.49 billion) sales, making $2.7 billion domestically and $7 billion globally. Hardly surprising, considering they had the four top-grossing films of the year!
