The San Diego and New York Comic-Cons may be in 2016's rearview mirror, but that doesn't mean the convention fun needs to end! This Friday marks the start of the first year of EW's highly anticipated #PopFest event in Downtown Los Angeles.
EW pulled out all the stops to harness star power, because the lineup is stacked high enough to make any pop culture fan weak at the knees. Whether you're interested in TV, movies, books, music or podcasts, there's something for everyone at PopFest. The event's website explains all:
Come face-to-face with your TV hero, be the first to see MOVIE footage and hear behind-the-scenes stories from the director and cast, check out top bands sampling a variety of MUSIC, listen to popular authors read from this year’s biggest BOOKS, plus much more!
Still not convinced about adding PopFest to your must-attend list? Here are six reasons why the festival should be your next big convention.
1. The Early Bird Gets The Doctor Strange
One of the most exciting events of the weekend is the Friday night kickoff, which involves an early screening of Marvel's #DoctorStrange and a Q&A with director Scott Derrickson. Though only available for 300 select VIP ticket holders, it speaks to how big PopFest will be.
Let's just say that come next year I'll be sure to be one of the first to purchase that VIP ticket.
2. Six Stages Of Awesomeness
PopFest runs over two days — not including the Doctor Strange prescreening — and has several stages and rooms to host talented guests. The event takes place at The Reef in Downtown LA and will include a main stage, theater, studio, book cafe, podcast lounge and, after 6 p.m., EW PopFest at Night.
3. The Talent Is Unreal
Like any good festival or convention, PopFest is packed to the brim with a bevy of impressive talent.
Some of the more exciting titles and names include Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles of #Supernatural; practically the entire #Arrowverse including Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoit, Caity Lotz and Greg Berlanti; Jennifer Aniston and T.J. Miller; the cast of Teen Wolf; Anna Faris and Seth Rogen; the cast of This is Us; Bob's Burgers live; as well as Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston introducing a sneak peek at #FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem.

4. Music To Your Ears
Not only will your favorite actors be making an appearance, but a handful of musical guests have also been tapped to perform. Nick Jonas, Tove Lo, JoJo, R!ot and more are all slated for PopFest this weekend. There really will be something for everyone to enjoy!
5. Food Galore!
Food isn't always taken into consideration when it comes to events of this scale, but personally, this is a high priority on my list. While I'm sure there will still be an abundance of pizza, popcorn and chicken tenders, PopFest is also enlisting some of LA's finest to bring us festival food fit for a king.
All event attendees should prepare their stomachs for the likes of Chancho's Tacos, Pho King Awesome, Dogtown Dogs, Prince of Venice pasta, Coffee by Kofi, Coolhaus ice cream, Cousins Main Lobster, Me So Hungry and Farmers Belly organic comfort food.
6. It's More Bang For Your Buck
With so many popular convention and festival tickets ranging from mildly expensive to upward of a few hundred dollars, PopFest offers an impressive lineup without incinerating your wallet.
Tickets for nearly everything above are still available, starting at just $47 a day. But considering the two-day VIP tickets cost just $180, it might be worthwhile to splurge a little bit. Better take advantage of PopFest before everyone learns about it and ticket prices soar.
