Even the biggest horror fans would be among the first to admit Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and other slasher icons are far from normal.
Which makes sense, of course. After all, average human beings don't usually turn the act of murdering strangers into a hobby.
However, photographer Jason Shaltz has snapped a new series of images titled “Everyday Horrors” that depict Jason, Freddy and the biggest bad boys of horror in every-day situations between stops on their latest killing sprees. (You can snag prints of these killer photos on Etsy.)
Murderous maniacs – they’re just like us! They drink coffee! They shop for groceries! They take public transit!
Check out seven of Shaltz’s humorous images below that prove our favorite horror icons aren’t really all that different from the rest of us.
1. Leatherface Takes The Train To His Next Victim
We all have places to go, including horror icons. As you can see in the above photo, not even the most notorious killer in Texas is above using public transportation.
2. Freddy Drinks Coffee To Prepare For A Long Night of Work
I know, Freddy Krueger drinking coffee is pretty ironic, but it's really not that far fetched. Many people wake up, get their morning cup of Joe and rely on it to energize them for work during the day. This appears to be the case for Freddy as well. A guy who works long hours each night terrorizing his victims needs to stay caffeinated to remain on his game.
3. Michael Myers Needs To Pay Bills Too
We tend to forget that hacking people to death won't pay the bills, which is a harsh reality for our favorite scary movie villains.
So don't look surprised if you end up buying a hot dog from Michael Myers one night. He's got to pay the mortgage on that old dusty house he lives in, just like the rest of us.
4. Ghostface Takes A Cab
It's been a mystery for decades. How do slasher villains appear in one place and then another in just a few seconds? It turns out, the answer to this question is surprisingly, well, normal.
Apparently, they just catch a cab.
5. Leatherface Goes For A Walk
Whether it's the stress of a long murderous night ahead or just the need to clear their minds, sometimes horror villains need to take relaxing strolls down the sidewalk too.
6. Freddy Reads The New York Times
Freddy Krueger doesn't have much to worry about in the real world, but he still takes a few moments out of his morning to stay informed by reading the morning paper.
7. Michael Myers Goes To The Movies
Horror villains like Michael Myers may be famous Hollywood superstars, but that hasn't killed their love of the movies. Unfortunately, they probably have to catch showings of films weeks after they're released, so they aren't mobbed by fans.
In the picture above, Myers could be enjoying the latest Marvel film or a romantic comedy. After all, he is a family man.
Do you finally acknowledge the fact that slasher villains are normal people?
