Warner Bros has now confirmed that it will make a new movie dedicated to Nightwing. The movie is set to be directed by Chris McKay, who also made The Lego Batman Movie this year. At least we know that he is familiar with the material and can handle a DC project. The movie will center around #DickGrayson, the first Robin, who now fights crime on his own in Bludhaven as the vigilante #Nightwing. The movie won't work without any supporting characters, so here are the comic book characters that should (and may) appear in the film.
The daughter of Jim Gordon, Barbara, is better known as #Batgirl. She fought alongside Batman on the streets of Gotham until she was crippled by the Joker. Then she became Oracle and helped Batman and co. fight crime by aiding them from the Batcave. Along with Starfire, Barbara is one of Nightwing's main love interests. In a Nightwing movie, I think Batgirl or Oracle is the more realistic choice.
Dick Grayson was the first Robin, and when he became Nightwing, Jason Todd took over the title. Todd could very well appear in Nightwing as Robin, but I hope Warner Bros. is setting up a Red Hood storyline, and as seen in BvS, it looks like Jason Todd had been killed by the Joker. If this is true, Tim Drake is the Robin we should see in the film. Maybe he seeks advice from Grayson as he struggles to keep up with Batman, as I love the brotherly relationship between Nightwing and the younger Robins.
We still might see Jason Todd though.
I don't think this needs any explanation, he is Batman!
We might not get a Teen Titans team-up in the #DCEU, but Dick Grayson and Victor Stone should at least be friends, as they are two young crime-fighters. It would be fun to see their dynamic, as they have very different power sets. If we are lucky, it could lead to Teen Titans if the movie works out well.
Those are the heroes I would like to see in the Nightwing movie. As for villains, I'd love to see Red Hood, but he deserves a #Batman movie, so maybe Penguin, the Riddler or the Court of Owls.
Who do you wanna see in the Nightwing movie?
