When the first season of Jessica Jones was released, it received critical acclaim for its portrayal of a strong, powerful superheroine dealing with real-world issues. It also made Jessica Jones an integral part of the MCU's landscape.

The substantial success of the first season led Netflix and to reveal a few months later that a second was on the way with this announcement:

Sadly, the awesome teaser did not include a release date or timeframe for the second season.

However, a new piece of information has surfaced, and it looks like a clue as to when we'll see embark on a new adventure.

There's an unofficial Facebook page for Netflix Latin America called Mundo Netflix (Netflix World) that lists upcoming releases for the streaming site and gives information on the streaming network's future projects with incredible accuracy. They recently released a list of all Netflix Original Series renewed and cancelled for the 2016-2017 period. And guess who's on the list of renewed shows?

Kilgrave's reaction pretty much sums it up (minus the creepy smile):

The key thing here is that the list states the shows have been renewed for the 2016-2017 period. We knew a second season was official, but this could mean one of two things. First, it could be a confirmation that we'll get to see our favorite super-powered private investigator in 2017. Second, 2017 could be the year production will begin. Either of those options would make sense.

A second season of Jessica Jones has reportedly been in development for a long time. Earlier this year, executive producer and showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg, revealed the upcoming season would have female directors for its 13 episodes, so things are beginning to fall into place and plans are well underway for the next chapter.

It was also previously stated that we wouldn't see additional seasons for Daredevil or Jessica Jones until after Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders aired. Rosenberg even talked about the improbability of a second Jessica Jones season happening soon:

"Marvel has a lot going on. So does Netflix. So I don't know if a second season fits into this schedule, when, whether or not we'll get one. I don't know any of that."

Fortunately, this list gives us an idea. But, regardless of when we'll get the chance to see the badass superheroine headlining her own show once again, we'll still get to see her in in 2017.
