Now, while the latest installment in the franchise, , may not yet be eliciting quite the same frenzied fan enthusiasm as 's other imminent 2017 offerings, it still very much remains a -starring movie about Captain . In other words, while it may not yet be taking the internet by storm, yet is almost certainly the key word there.

What's more, with firm details about the movie only now making their way onto the interweb, it seems likely that mild Pirates-themed interest is only a cunningly timed press release away from bubbling over into genuine over-excitement. We Now Have Our Best Look Yet At 'Pirates Of The Caribbean 5's New Villain

Y'see, while the film's teaser trailer (above) may have prominently featured 's incoming , we didn't actually catch a full, unadulterated look at the villain within its brief running time. As such, the following image — which was featured in USA Today's recent 2017 movie preview — is actually both a pleasant surprise, and really rather intriguing...

After all, a villainous pirate captain needs to be more than a nightmare-inducing face in order to truly capture our attention nowadays. This makes it all the more reassuring that Bardem's Salazar looks fully capable of beating the snot out of any snarky, Keith Richards-like piratical legends who happen to stumble into his path.

Whether that's enough to spark Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' latent wave of fan excitement, though, remains to be seen.
