DC's Batman v Superman may have featured brief glimpses of a whole lot of future members, but that hasn't dampened our collective enthusiasm for seeking out further, sneakier cameos in the movie. After all, the film was the 's first full dive into the world of the interconnected superhero movie universe, so the idea that there wouldn't be at least a handful of surreptitious nods and winks to the audience has always seemed a little implausible.

And, as it turns out, there really has been a cunningly hidden cameo hiding in plain sight this whole time — it just might not be quite what you're expecting. Y'see...

Only, he didn't quite do it in the manner you might imagine. Where other directors might cunningly hide their silhouettes in the background, or turn up in a minor, scene-stealing role, instead opted for something a little more... subtle.

According to the film's cinematographer, Larry Fong, Snyder actually wound up playing in one key scene. Or, rather, playing Batman's hand:

Specifically, it seems that during 's visit to a certain underground fighting ring, it wasn't actually who picked up his cell phone during a particular shot. Instead, it was Zack Snyder himself.

As it turns out, there was actually a very specific reason for the handy cameo. As Fong put it:

Which is... actually a pretty good explanation, to be honest.

That being said, it seems we're now going to have to pay a whole lot more attention to any unidentified hands, feet (and other appendages) that might appear in future projects. After all, who knows who could be sneaking on to the big screen that way?

What do you reckon, though? Who - or what - would you have most liked to have seen cameo in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'? Let us know below!
