is taking himself to the next level on the meta scale of self-indulgence by creating a reality TV show about himself. According to Variety Franco has penned a deal with Ovation to make James Franco Presents, a ten episode show that will "pull back the curtain on the many side projects he is perpetually involved with, from his latest art exhibit to his work in collegiate classrooms."

The show is unscripted and will introduce lots of Franco's art projects and previously unseen experimental video shorts.

Ovation chief creative officer Robert Weiss was quick to clarify that the show is not a reality show, but an "anthology docuseries" that will "see the word of art through James’ eyes. All the different exploits that James is involved in, this show encompasses."

First of all, it's no surprise that Franco has named the show after himself. I think he's a fine actor, but all this self-referential stuff that he's been doing lately gives the impression that Franco is more of a concept than an actual person. I guess it could be interesting to see Franco's take on the art world, but I do worry that it could be another vehicle for a (admittedly very talented) celebrity to blow smoke up their own asses.

What say you?

James Franco Presents is due to air in November.
