Suicide tends to be a lonely, desperate occupation, even in movies.

In A Long Way Down, which marks the adaptation of the eponymous Nick Hornby novel, this isn’t the case: Four strangers - played by Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots - meet on the rooftop on New Year's Eve hellbent killing themselves. Instead of putting an end to their sad existences, however, they end up helping each other to find new resolve in life.
