Call it totally unnecessary, the remake for the Oscar-nominated French prison drama A Prophet probably won’t be badly written.

According to Variety, , responsible for great novels such as Mystic River and Shutter Island, will write the screenplay for the movie.

The original A Prophet was an acutely observed crime drama that told the unlikely 'success' story of a young Arabian criminal rising through the ranks of the Corsican mafia.

The remake will presumably be set in a U.S.-prison.

I am quite excited to see what Lehane will do with the material!
