Something unfortunate has come to Netflix, and it looks like it's here to stay. Lemony Snicket's #ASeriesOfUnfortunateEvents has been a hit with the critics and fans alike, with each Easter Egg-riddled episode of its first season better than the last. In its opening weekend, there were an average of 3.755 million people tuned in to ASOUE in the average minute. Luke Cage got a respectable 3.388 million during its opening weekend, and Marvel's Daredevil Season 2 had 3.201 million viewers per minute.
A Series of Unfortunate Events currently holds fourth place for Netflix's opening weekend viewership, right behind Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life (4.884), Orange Is The New Black Season 4 (5.843 million viewers), and, in first place, Fuller House Season 1 with a whopping 7.330 million viewers.
Netflix refuses to release its viewership numbers, so these stats were collected by start-up Symphony AM. The company has only been in operation for the last year and a half, so there are no recorded numbers for the openings of hits like the earlier seasons of Orange Is the New Black or Better Call Saul.
