(WARNING: The following contains potential — albeit entirely unsubstantiated — casting rumors for multiple upcoming Marvel Studios projects. Proceed with whatever level of caution your frequent email communication with Kevin Feige's cousin's mailman suggests to you is wise.)

Now, if there's one sort of rumor to take with a giant pinch of salt, it's surely the kind that emerges from the interweb's more mysterious backwaters. As such, whether the news emerged from 4Chan, a surreptitious subreddit, or even Donald Trump's Twitter feed, there's a whole lot of information out there that could be true, but more often than not very much isn't.

And, because we here at Moviepilot love you so very much, we've raked through the muck of the murky half of the internet to bring you the very finest (and least substantiated) rumors available this side of a Russian intelligence agency. Y'see:

A Whole Bunch Of Marvel Casting Details May Have Just Been Leaked

And, while there's every chance that they're completely made up, you can read them below if you're so inclined. After all, while they may have found their way online via 4Chan, there's still theoretically a chance that they're the result of some sort of canny on-set call-list spotting, as opposed to a determined fan's attempts to troll us all.

First up, then?

'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2'

Which, according to the "leak," will feature at least one surprise return, and a few potentially comic book referencing characters:

Laura Haddock is returning as Meredith Quill, Star-Lord's mother.

Sylvester Stallone is credited as "Chief Centurion"

Sharon Stone is credited as "Balthak"

"Chief Centurion" could, after all, refer to the Kang-ish Scarlet Centurion (or to the Nova Corps), while Balthakk (with two k's) is an obscure mystical deity. Both of whom could (but probably won't) turn up in

Meanwhile, over at , there's...

'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

'Captain America: Civil War' [Marvel Studios]
'Captain America: Civil War' [Marvel Studios]

In which, it seems, we might ultimately find that:

Logan Marshall-Green is credited as "Bryce / Shocker #1"

Bookem Woodbine is credited as "Schultz / Shocker #2"

Donald Glover is credited as "Farrell"

Tyne Daly is credited as "Hoag"

Gary Weeks is credited as "Porter"

Hill Harper is credited as "Cleary"

Christopher Berry is credited as "Ballinger / Goon #2"

Which, if true, would suggest that Donald Glover will be playing a variation of Andrew Farrell, the skateboard-wielding villain-turned-hero Rocket Racer, that Tyne Daly will be heading up "Damage Control" as Anne Marie Hoag, with Hill Harper and Christopher Berry as the group's Albert Cleary and Lenny Ballinger respectively, while Gary Weeks would be Damage Control competitor John Porter. All of which seems a little too on the nose to actually happen in , but there ya go.

Next up?

'Thor: Ragnarok'

In which, it seems:

Zachary Levi is returning as Fandral, Thor's friend.

Sam Neill is credited as "The Trader"

Josh Brolin is appearing as Thanos.

None of which is a) especially surprising, or b) especially unusual, bar the fact that "The Trader" is an Elder of the Universe over in Comics. Then again, since we already seem to know a surprisingly large amount about 's casting, that makes a fair bit of sense. There's relatively little left to make up/shockingly reveal, after all.

Meanwhile, in Wakanda, there's also:

'Black Panther'

'Captain America: Civil War' [Marvel Studios]
'Captain America: Civil War' [Marvel Studios]

Which, according to rumor, will reveal that:

Andy Serkis is returning as Ulysses Klaue

William Hurt is returning as Secretary Thaddeus Ross

Letitia Wright is credited as "Suri"

Malachi Kirby is credited as "Young T'Chakka" (sic)

All of which is similarly predictable/relatively unremarkable, albeit entirely plausible when it comes to the real-life movie.

Finally, then, there's:

'Avengers: Infinity War'

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' [Marvel Studios]
'Avengers: Age of Ultron' [Marvel Studios]

Which will apparently feature a whole lot of surprises, including the return of several deceased heroes:

They're being filmed back-to-back, therefore the casting developments for both are happening simultaneously.

Unsurprisingly, all mainline heroes from the MCU are expected to make appearances.

The plan is for all notable characters involved in the previous movies to make special appearances, including characters such as Pepper Potts and Jane Porter, whose actors' fulfilled their original contracts. The arrangement is for these cameos to be done out of goodwill, without requiring the renegotiation of a new contract.

The supporting characters of the MCU expected to make notable appearances throughout the two movies include: Peggy Carter, Thaddeus Ross, Maria Hill, Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne, Quicksilver, Wong, Zuri, Loki and Odin.

Eva Green is in final talks to play Lady Death.

Casting is underway for Eitri, "the creator of the Infinity Gauntlet." Peter Dinklage is in negotiations for this role.

Casting is underway for Corvus, "Thanos's vicious right-hand man." This role will require substantial prosthetics/mocap.

Casting is underway for Nox, "a loyal follower of Thanos." This role will require substantial prosthetics/mocap. The character is named "Black Dwarf" in the comics.

Casting is underway for Ican, "a loyal follower of Thanos." This role will require substantial prosthetics/mocap. The character is named "Supergiant" in the comics.

Casting is underway for Proxima, "a loyal follower of Thanos." This role will require substantial prosthetics/mocap.

Casting is underway for Ebony, "a loyal follower of Thanos." This role will require substantial prosthetics/mocap.

Now, in fairness, the mis-naming of Jane Foster (as opposed to Porter) and, presumably, Hope Van Dyne (as opposed to the as-yet uncast Janet van Dyne) don't make the above hugely reassuring, especially since the apparent return of the very much deceased Quicksilver and Peggy Carter isn't overly remarked upon. Plus, Eitri is quite literally the King of the Dwarves in the Marvel Universe, making the determinedly stereotype-busting 's potential casting in the role pretty much exactly the sort of thing that probably won't happen in .

In the end, though, we can't actually know for sure — and so, I leave these rumors in your hands, with only the suggestion that you don't necessarily believe a word of them to guide you.

Travel safe, true believer.

What do you think, though? Are the rumors above for real, or is it all just elaborate trolling? Let us know below!
