Fans are still celebrating the recent news that #Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for a fifth season, and we're all eagerly awaiting just what Marvel has in store. We're not the only ones; the cast are as in the dark about plot details as we are!
Over on Twitter, writer Nora Zuckerman just declared that she's now working on Season 5. That prompted actress Chloe Bennet — better known as Quake, a.k.a. Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Skye — to reveal what she'd like to see for her character:
There's a sense in which Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is like a soap — strip away the superheroics, and the central theme is always family. As a result, the characters' love-lives come under the microscope a lot; it took Fitz and Simmons two seasons to finally admit they cared for each other, and Coulson and May remain a frustratingly enigmatic will-they-won't-they item.
No-one's suffered worse than poor Quake, though. Her first guy, Gant Ward, became the show's Biggest Bad (and possibly one of the most phenomenal villains in the entire #MCU). Her second, the electrokinetic Inhuman called Lincoln, wound up sacrificing his life to save the world.
Chloe's reference to "this dimension" is clearly a nod to the fan-favorite Quake / #GhostRider 'ship, too. While Chloe didn't feel her character was ready for a relationship back in Season 4's first pod, the season finale gave us a hint of just how great the chemistry between the two could be. And then ... Robbie Reyes opened a portal and wandered off to another dimension. So much for that idea.
Clark Gregg's Pitch
Enter Clark Gregg, the ultimate Marvel fanboy who we all know and love as Agent Coulson. His suggestion?
In case you've missed the reference? It's a clear nod to Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. The recently-released sequel revealed that Pratt's a Celestial / human hybrid, although the film ended with him destroying the source of his power (and immorality).
In one throwaway tweet, Clark Gregg is both suggesting that Chloe Bennet get a chance to share a lip-lock or two with Chris Pratt (I'm sure Bennet wouldn't object), and that he wants an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. / Guardians of the Galaxy crossover of some kind. That's actually a little more likely than you'd think, given the Season 4 finale closed with Agent Coulson — and, presumably, the rest of his team — in space.
Luke Mitchell, who played Quake's ill-fated love, Lincoln, chimed in with his own thoughts:
Given Quake's history, he may have something of a point.
Incidentally, if we really must give Quake a dog? I'd vote for Cosmo, the canine cosmonaut glimpsed at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy. In the comics, Cosmo is a powerful telepath, and I can see him fitting in just fine with the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Sure, he's not a puppy, but this would actually make her pet a major part of the plot!
Which character do you think Quake could wind up in a (successful) romance with? Let me know in the comments!
