There have been talks of an Akira remake since 2001 when Warner Bros. bought the rights to the cult anime movie. It even got quite close to production in 2008 with Leonardo Di Caprio involved, and Irish director Ruairi Robinson on board. Here's what concept artist James Clyne of Avatar fame, envisioned Otomo's dystopian Tokyo of 2019 in Akira to look like!
