Thursday was a big day for fans of Gilmore Girls, because two of the show's stars are heading to the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards ... just not for that particular show. Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia have each received their very first Emmy nominations.

, who played Rory on , garnered a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series for her role as Ofglen in Hulu's . The series, based on Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel, tells the story of the near-future in which a Christian fundamentalist government known as "Gilead" enslaves all women capable of childbirth. The performances were outstanding in the first season — also nominated were Bledel's fellow cast members Elisabeth Moss for Lead Actress, Ann Dowd for Supporting Actress and Samira Wiley for Supporting Actress.

Meanwhile, Bledel's Gilmore Girls co-star has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series with his role as family patriarch Jack Pearson in . Ventimiglia has been serving up his best acting to date, as his character navigates the complexities of marriage and raising three kids. The NBC series became the must-see show of the fall with the emotional storylines and raw topics.

Similar to The Handmaid's Tale, This is Us felt the love from the Emmys in its first year of eligibility as it scooped up 11 nominations in total. Sterling K. Brown, who plays Jack's son Randall, shares a spot in the same category with Ventimiglia while Ron Cephas Jones (Randall's birth father, William) and Chrissy Metz (Jack's daughter, Kate) take supporting cast nominations. Denis O'Hare also grabbed a nomination for a guest role in the series as William's former lover.

There is no word on whether fans will see Bledel and Ventimiglia reunite on-screen anytime soon, but we have our fingers crossed they will at least get a Emmy Awards photo op together to warm our Rory and Jess-loving hearts.

The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards aire September 17th, 2017.
