Well, fellow Whovians, it appears as if we won't have to wait until November 23rd and the 50th Anniversary Special of Doctor Who to find out who the Twelfth Doctor will be, after all.

After the news leaked, the BBC made a formal announcement that the next Doctor is to be revealed in a live, Sunday night special, though the rumors trickling through the internet are that Scottish actor will be our next Time Lord.

If the rumors prove to be true, this isn't Capaldi's first dabble in the world of the good Doctor: He's previously appeared as Caecilius in 'The Fires of Pompeii' episode during 's reign, and later as John Frobisher in the five-episode 'Children of the Earth' story arch on Doctor Who spin-off, Torchwood.

Check out the BBC's teaser trailer for the Sunday night reveal:

Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor will air exclusively on BBC One in the UK at 7 p.m., and on BBC America at 2 p.m. EST. If you can't watch, Moviepilot will have all the details for you as soon as our new Doctor is revealed. Who loves ya best, Whovians? That's right. This chick.

Also, this. Just because it's great:
