Over the weekend the world witnessed one of the greatest comebacks in Super Bowl history. People around the world changed the channel when the New England Patriots were down to the Atlanta Falcons 3-28. For those of you who gutted out, you saw the New England Patriots dig deep, grind it out, and pull out an unforgettable comeback.

Everyone loves a come-from-behind win; it shows what a person or team is really made of. In sports, we see it all the time, but we also see it in comic books as well. In honor of the New England Patriots' comeback to win the Superbowl (and Tom Brady's fifth Super Bowl Championship), here are some of my favorite come-from-behind wins from .

4. Thor Versus Loki And Ragnorok

  • Thor 80–85: Thor Disassembled

This may have been the greatest Marvel comeback ever because Thor was actually defeated time and time again in this series. It started when Loki had the Fire Demon Surtur make weapons from the same metal Thor's hammer is made of. With these weapons in the hands of some of Asgard's most ruthless and determined enemies, Asgard fell. Among the fallen were Fandral, Hogan, Valkyrie, Heimdall, and even Thor's brother, Balder. If that was not bad enough, Thor's hammer Mjölnir was nearly destroyed during battle.

The Comeback:

Despite things looking to be at their most bleak, managed to take a no-win situation and turn it into a victory of sorts. Thor sacrificed both of his eyes and was willing to sacrifice his life if it meant that his people would live. Once Thor realized that he and the rest of the gods of Asgard were pawns in a grander scheme, he decided that it was time to end the seemingly infinite cycle of meaningless death that would only lead to resurrection and death again. In the end, Thor stopped the endless cycle and gave his brothers and sister in arms the gift of a final glorious battle.

MVP: Thor, for removing both his eyes and risking death.

3. Spider-Man Versus Morlun

  • Amazing Spider-Man 30–35 (2001)

is known for getting his tuchas kicked over and over before eventually finding a way to grasp victory from the jaws of defeat. However, Spider-Man has never fought an opponent like Morlun. Morlun isn't like The Rhino, Electro, or even Norman Osborn. You might be able to reason with these guys or even find a way to hold them off long enough to catch your breath, but Morlun doesn't stop or quit, and there is no reasoning with him. Spidey also found that out that putting civilians in harm's way is something Morlun was more than willing to do to get to his meal (Spider-Man).

The Comeback:

With nothing left to lose, Spider-Man tried a Hail Mary. Spidey always wondered how much more radiation his body could take after the radioactive spider bit him. He figured if Morlun was going to kill and eat him anyway, what was the worst that could happen? Spidey got lucky. He injected himself with enough radiation that he was no longer a pure source for Morlun to eat. Spidey then proceeded to beat Morlun down like he'd never been beaten before.

MVP: Ezekiel, for risking his life so Spider-Man could get a sample of Morlun's blood

2. Skrulls Versus Earth's Heroes AND Villains

  • Secret Invasion 1–8

It wasn't that they beat the down, outsmarted that Fantastic Four, or out-spied S.H.I.E.L.D., it was that they did all of this little by little. The Skrulls took their time and moved like a chess game. They strategically took important piece after important piece off the board. However, it wasn't just the likes of Nick Fury and Reed Richards that they replaced. They took Jessica Drew, Jarvis, and people in governments all over the world — people who has affiliations with multiple factions and ties to all of the important groups. Once they hand their people in place all over the world, the Skrulls made their move and were one battle away from controlling the world and making Earth their new home world.

The Comeback:

The one thing that the Skrulls didn't plan on is something that can't be calculated: Earth's unity. When faced with odds that affect us all, we unite (and unite they did). Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America (Bucky) lead the charge against the Skrulls. But that's not all. You had enemies like Nick Fury and Norman Osborn fighting side by side. Bullseye choosing to shoot a Skrull instead of Daredevil or Spider-Man, The Hoods criminal crew working side by side with the god of war, Ares, and Wolverine holding his rage in to make a hole directly into the Skrull Queen. The unity of all of Earth's heroes and villains working together to take their planet back saved the day.

MVP: Thor, for rounding up the troops to start the final battle.

1. Thanos And The Infinity Gauntlet Versus Everyone

  • The Infinity Gauntlet 1–6

The Infinity Gems (Power, Soul, Time, Space, Reality and Mind) are some of the, if not THE, most powerful objects in the Marvel universe. Add them all together with the Infinity Gauntlet and there is very little you can't do. The beings of the Marvel Universe found this out when got his hands on all of the gems and used them to wipe out millions of people on Earth.

The remaining heroes on Earth (among them: Hulk, Wolverine, Thor and Captain America) along with a few cosmic beings (Adam Warlock and Silver Surfer) got together to try and challenge the Mad Titan Thanos. They met him and he mopped the floor with them. He broke Cap's shield and even turned Wolverine's adamantium bones into rubber. What Thanos did was among the best beat downs I have seen a person give out to some of Marvel's greats.

The Comeback:

Some might call it brilliant strategy, I call it luck. Thanos got arrogant and left his body and Nebula snatched the gauntlet right off his hand. Luckily, Thanos, Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock were crafty enough to trick her into returning all of the dead to life and Warlock had enough time to gain control of the gems. Seriously, this was lucky, but I guess there is a little bit of luck in every win.

MVP: Thanos. Because even though he lost, he still kind of won just for surviving and not being taken to prison.
