Those guys at Spectral Motion have the best job in the world. They get to make freaky monsters, severed limbs and mangled faces, and they get paid for it! The top special effects company behind Pacific Rim, Looper and R.I.P.D. have revealed some unseen shots of their studio work.
Firstly, you know those horrible wriggly things in Pacific Rim? The ones that look like the face-huggers' inbred cousins, half-spider crab, half-woodlouse? Yeah, the Kaiju Parasites, or 'skinmites'. Well, here's the rancid little beasts being created by the special FX maestros.
I have a lot of love for Pacific Rim, being the kind of kid who loved Power Rangers and Akira and all things vaguely monster/robot-related that involved fancy suits. But I have to say, the coolest Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie since Inception was definitely Looper. You may be amazed to know that making and look like the same person was not actually the most impressive feat of FX involved.
Take a look below at some prosthetics used when Seth (Frank Brennan) is being tortured in the past, but feeling the effects in the future.
If you're still in need of more gross faces and other awesomeness, how about the conept art and prosthetics for the Deados of R.I.P.D.
