Since the inception of #AmericasNextTopModel, if you wanted to be on top, you had to be under 27. But not any more! The queen of the smize and mother of top models, #TyraBanks, just dropped a Twitter update to inform #ANTM hopefuls that age is just a number and you can become a supermodel, no matter your vintage.
Check out her announcement in the vid below:
Tyra tells her loyal followers the good news:
"You know I've stood for diverse beauty and erasing cookie-cutters when it comes to what is deemed beautiful. There have been 23 cycles of America's Next Top Model and every single cycle, we say, you have to be 27 years old or younger. Know what I hear all the time? 'Tyra, come on! Why have an age limit?' So you know what? I’m taking that age limit off."
Yes! Can't wait to watch the first mother-daughter duo duke it out on the runway. Tyra continued:
"You want to audition for America's Next Top Model? I don't care how old you are honey. You just need to know how to smize and be open to learning how to work the runway like a supermodel."

In case you're not totally versed in Tyra and ANTM lingo, "smize" means to smile with your eyes.
Unfortunately, the fierce youth of America will have to stick to Disney channel for now, or wait until their 18th birthdays before they can slay with the big girls and boys.
It was really only a matter of time before the age limit fell the way of the Rita Ora's career as ANTM host. After all, the show has only been getting more inclusive over time. Whitney Thompson became the first plus size model to win the show in Cycle 10, male models joined the contenders in Cycle 20, and the height restrictions were lifted in Cycle 22. If a 30-something stunner can smize as well as the next person, why shouldn't they have the chance to win a contract with Next Management and a whole barrel of other cool prizes?
