After years of giving fans around the world hope for true love, #BradPitt and #AngelinaJolie broke our hearts last year with the announcement of their divorce. Because it's a common occurrence (especially in Hollywood, where a celebrity's private life is never, well, private) we accepted the fact that things happen and moved on.
Unfortunately for everyone invested in the story, this was not a friendly separation (like, at all). In fact, besides official statements from both parties, the divorce turmoil was followed by a hard period of silence from both of them. But after months, Jolie has finally spoken about the matter.
Jolie sat down with BBC before a screening for First They Killed My Father, a film directed by her which recounts the Khmer Rouge through the eyes of a child.
During the interview, the actress finally broke her silence regarding her very public divorce from Brad, stating:
"It was very difficult. Many people find themselves in this situation. My whole family have all been through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children."
She continued by saying that, to get through this time, her family needed to be as close as possible:
"We are and forever will be a family and so that is how I am coping. I am coping with finding a way through to make sure that this somehow makes us stronger and closer."
While her comments are not exactly positive, it's great to see things are seemingly cooling off between Hollywood's former power couple. Because - as I mentioned above - for months, we heard astounding stories recounting harsh situations as their divorce unfolded; from an ugly custody battle, to Brad's airport outburst involving child-abuse allegations that was later revealed to have prompted their separation:
"Angelina's decision to file has to do with the way Brad was parenting the children ... she was extremely upset with his methods."

And on top of that, we got our first look at Brad Pitt after the divorce through a worrying picture showcasing his considerably smaller frame:
Clearly their separation has been taking a toll on them. Hopefully, now that the situation is looking brighter, they remain healthy and are able to transition from each other in a peaceful way.
