The viral marketing campaign for upcoming slasher flick You're Next is seriously pushing all the right buttons with me right now. It's subtle. It's creepy. And it's creating buzz. In other words, it's perfect to generate interest for the low-budget but highly-anticipated horror film from Lionsgate.
The guerrilla campaign has taken over a few city bus stops across the country, with shadows and silhouettes of one of the killers being splashed across posters for other Lionsgate movies soon to be in theaters. We've already seen it on posters for the upcoming The Big Wedding and Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor bus stop ads.
The latest, however, is more subtle yet, spotted on a pay phone poster for Peeples. Check it out:
This is quickly going to turn into a way creepier version of "Where's Waldo?"
You're Next is in theaters on August 23rd, so expect to see more of this viral marketing happening, possibly with an even more unsettling twist, as Lionsgate ramps up their promotional efforts in the lead-up to its release.
