Back in May, we learned that production for Aquaman had kicked off. Four months (and a slew of exciting set pictures and videos) later, filming has wrapped up. The cast and crew had a wrap party to celebrate the milestone, but the fun night ended in an emergency — because one of the movie's crew members was stabbed.
According to CBC, on Friday, September 1, the unidentified worker was chatting with a group of women outside of the pub Greensleeves in St. John's, Canada, following the film's wrap party. A 22-year-old man approached him and they started arguing. Things eventually calmed down between the two and the young man walked away, but he allegedly came back awhile later and started a more serious fight with the Aquaman crew member. Another individual allegedly then arrived and stabbed the crew member in the back.
Police say three men tried to defend the victim from his attacker, but were also injured in the process. Two out of the three had to be taken to the hospital. The suspect allegedly fled before police arrived, but he was caught a few days later. The Newfoundland and Labrador's Provincial Police Service released a statement, identifying the alleged perpetrator as 22-year-old Corey Evans:
"22 year old Corey Evans of Mount Pearl was arrested on Sunday evening without incident and was held overnight. He was seen in Provincial Court yesterday morning on the following charges: Aggravated Assault; and Assault with a Weapon (x3)."
It looks like the second alleged attacker is still free. Fortunately, the crew member and the three men who tried to help him are reported to be doing well.
On a side note, this isn't the only DC-related attack that's taken place in the past few months. Back in July, a man dressed as Joker was shot by police while taking part in a costume-themed orgy alongside his partner, who was dressed as Harley Quinn. Yikes, let's hope superheroes get a rest when it comes to troubles.
Now that Aquaman is done filming, the movie is going right into the post-production process to meet its December 28, 2018 release date.
You won't have to wait that long to see the King of Atlantis in action. #JasonMomoa's Aquaman will be fighting alongside the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash in #JusticeLeague, which hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
