Warner Bros. is currently looking for its trio of Green Lantern members for 2020's . While nothing has been set for the casting, a fan-favorite to bring Hal Jordan to life once again is Armie Hammer. The actor has been teasing his part in the film for quite some time after some evidence came out suggesting his involvement. And shortly after his cruel teasing game began, a shortlist of actors was revealed, which included him.

Now, he's thrown out a few new tantalizing hints regarding the role. The actor sat down for an interview with Screen Rant during SXSW to promote his upcoming film, Free Fire. There he was asked whether he was still in the running for everyone's favorite glowing space cop. He stated:

“I don’t know. Technically [I am], because they haven’t hired anyone.”

Hammer recently suffered a serious arm injury that had him undergo surgery.

As we've seen in the past, actors can miss out on roles or put productions on pause because of medical emergencies or health reasons. So he was asked if that could hinder his chances of getting to pay . He gave this intriguing answer:

“I’m not going be hobbled for the rest of my life. Let’s say that.”

Keep in mind, these aren't at all confirmations or give us any indication of the state of the casting process. Unlike other actors being considered for superhero roles, Hammer hasn't held back in teasing us, so this could just be another instance of him having fun with the fandom.

However, we can't deny these comments are very intriguing, especially if we take into account his comments about being a Green Lantern reader as a child. Plus, he already has an established working relationship with both and Warner Bros. thanks to The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Free Fire director Ben Wheatley chimed in to say that Hammer's injury shouldn't be a problem for his chance to play , as the superhero doesn't even technically need arm movement, because he could just point his fist and have a "parachute or something" come out of his trusty ring. To which Hammer responded with:

“A fist! No, a fist comes out! And that punches them. [...] I’m a kid at heart. I mean, everyone’s read comic books.”

I mean, that kind of dedication to the character certainly accounts for something... right?

Jokes aside, hopefully we get an official casting announcement soon, with or without . It's been too long of a ride with speculation and rumors. Heck, even Henry Cavill and his dog want to know what in the world is going on with the character. Still, all we can do now is wait to see what happens next.

Do you think he's our new Hal Jordan? Which other actor would you like to see in the role? Let me know what you think in the comments!
