If you thought 2016 featured a lot of superheroes, you're going to be wild about 2017! Over on the big screen, you can discover the all-new Power Rangers, suit up with Spider-Man, or watch with delight as the Justice League assemble. But the real excitement is on TV, where we have 10 confirmed superhero shows thus far. That number is only likely to increase, not least because a number of these shows are on their mid-season break, and are certain to return!

With so many superhero films and TV shows coming out, it's easy to lose track. Here's your ultimate guide to TV in 2017 — the Year of the Superhero!

'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4 - 01/10/2017

Season 4 of will return from its mid-season break on January 10th, launching the 'LMD' arc. Although the series has seen reduced viewing figures, it's faring well for the 10.00pm timeslot. It's too soon to tell whether or not Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be renewed for Season 5, especially with ABC airing The Inhumans in September.

'Lucifer' Season 2 - 01/16/2017

DC's supernatural series picks up from its mid-season break on January 16th, although we don't yet know whether or not its been renewed for a third season.

'Supergirl' Season 2 - 01/23/2017

Returning from her mid-season break on January 23rd, Season 2 seems to have become the highlight of The CW's universe! We don't know much about the next half-season now that CADMUS has been exposed and Lena Luthor has proven herself trustworthy, but we know this is just the beginning - Supergirl has been renewed, and Season 3 will launch later this year.

'The Flash' Season 3 - 01/24/2017

After a thrilling mid-season finale, is set to return on 01/24/2017. The mid-season finale gave Barry Allen a haunting vision of the future, one that he'll no doubt strive to prevent. With the DCTV universe flourishing, The Flash has officially been renewed, so Season 4 will launch later in the year.

'Arrow' Season 5 - 01/25/2017

The mid-season break of set up some devastating emotional twists, which are sure to have serious repercussions after Christmas. In the face of persistent rumors he's leaving the series, Stephen Amell has revealed that his contract runs through until 2019; Arrow has officially been renewed for Season 6.

'Legends of Tomorrow' Season 2 - 01/26/2017

's mid-season finale only increased the threat of the Legion of Doom; they're on their way to gaining the Spear of Destiny! Things are sure to hot up on January 26th, and no one's surprised to hear that Legends of Tomorrow has officially been renewed. Season 3 will launch later in the year!

'Powerless' - 02/02/2017

Due to launch in February 2017, is a comedy series set in the DC Universe. It's essentially a workplace sitcom akin to The Office, with a focus on an insurance agency who deal with superhero-related damages. It looks set to be tremendous fun!

'Legion' - 02/08/2017

Promising to be the most unusual superhero TV show ever made, is an unusual story inspired by the X-Men character David Haller. Excitingly, Legion is confirmed to be set within the wider X-Men cinematic universe, and it's believed that it will feature Patrick Stewart!

'Iron Fist' - 03/17/2017

First of the shows to air in 2017, introduces us to the final Defender — Finn Jones's Iron Fist! A martial arts master stepped in mysticism, Iron Fist's adventures promise to bring us a whole new swathe of action and adventure!

'The Inhumans' - 09/2017

Although we don't yet have a firm release date for Marvel's , this series promises to be like nothing else we've seen before. The first two episodes will premiere on IMAX, then heading over to ABC. We know that it looks to be incredibly comic-book-accurate, right down to featuring action set on the Dark Side of the Moon!

'The Defenders' - Unknown

The crowning glory of Marvel Netflix, will unite Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage against Sigourney Weaver's still-enigmatic villain. This is a must-not-miss!

'The Punisher' - Unknown

Jon Bernthal's performance in Daredevil Season 2 was strong enough to earn the a solo Netflix series of his own! This looks set to continue the Punisher's bloody and brutal war on crime.

So there you have it - as you can see, 2017 is going to be one amazing year for superhero fans! From the big screen to Netflix, the reality is that there literally isn't going to be one month without fresh new superhero action. Little wonder that 2017 can be called the Year of the Superhero!
