The majority of fans rejoiced when it was announced that Katie Cassidy was returning to the show as a series regular for Season 6 — let's face it, she should never have been written out of it in the first place. While she initially portrayed Laurel Lance/Black Canary on the show's first four seasons until the character's unjust death, she will return as her evil Earth-2 doppelgänger Black Siren.

But before Season 6, Black Siren will reappear in next week's "Missing" — the penultimate episode of Season 5. Her presence will also be felt in one of the most star-studded season finales in history the following week.

But if you're too excited to wait until next week, you'll be glad to know that The CW has officially released brand new photos from "Missing," which show Black Siren back in action. Let's take a look at them and see if we can figure out exactly what kind of role she'll play heading into the final two episodes of Season 5.

Spoilers follow for Arrow Season 5.

When we last saw Black Siren, she convinced Team Arrow that she was actually their beloved Laurel who had come back to life after Sara saved her on Legends On Tomorrow. But unfortunately this wasn't true and it turned out to be Black Siren, who was working with Prometheus.

She was eventually imprisoned at A.R.G.U.S. before she could interact with certain individuals who were particularly close to Earth-1's Laurel. But the new photos suggest that this is all about to change.

The photos reveal that she gets up close and personal with Quentin Lance — Laurel Lance's own father. While we don't know much about Siren's origins yet, we do know that she too was in love with her world's Oliver Queen but that he perished on Earth-2 while his father became the Green Arrow. We have yet to discover if Earth-2 Laurel's father resembled Quentin and if she had the same kind of close relationship that Lance had with his daughters.

Moreover, while Team Flash initially kept Siren's existence a secret from Team Arrow, Oliver and friends presumably kept her existence a secret from Quentin and Sara. So, knowing that Lance loved Laurel more than anything in the world, it will be interesting to see how he reacts to meeting his daughter's doppelgänger.

Is Black Siren A Friend Or Foe?

Black Siren showed glimpses of good during her last appearance, and certainly didn't take too kindly to being threatened by Prometheus. Thus, she'd certainly have motivation to take him out now that she's free. While we do know that she will end up working with him again in the season finale, these photos seem to suggest that she's happy to let bygones be bygones early and do his bidding upon her release.

If you look closely, you can see that Quentin is cuffed. Moreover, other photos reveal that Thea has also been kidnapped by Black Siren. The trailer for the episode backs this suggestion up, as multiple Team Arrow members go missing, despite the fact that Prometheus is locked up in A.R.G.U.S.

Furthermore, it's also worth noting that they are imprisoned in the back of a truck. Thus, we're left wondering if Black Siren is slowly collecting all of Team Arrow's members so she can take them to Lian Yu for the season finale. And let's not forget that we have been promised an epic showdown between her and Dinah Drake. But does Siren's dominance in the photos suggest that she comes out of that altercation victorious?

But the most interesting question is: if Prometheus ended up imprisoned in A.R.G.U.S., then who on earth (1 or 2) freed Black Siren? And now that she's sticking around, will she eventually turn her back on Prometheus in the finale and save Team Arrow, or is she destined to be evil forever?
