#Arrow came back with a bam with Season 5 after two disappointing seasons in a row, and there are only a few episodes left. While it is sad to see this amazing season end, Marc Guggenheim and the executive producers have teased that the Season 5 finale will be one of the best episodes yet.
On top of that, the producers have also teased multiple deaths that will change the course of the show forever. Let's take a look at five characters most likely to say farewell in the Arrow Season 5 finale:
Diggle has been a leading character on Arrow since the beginning, but how much has he really changed? Obviously, he has struggled with morality issues and took multiple breaks from Team Arrow, but there are not many more character arcs that Diggle can undergo. Executive producer Wendy Mericle teased that the death will surprise us all and that it will truly break Oliver on the inside:
“Chase has been trying to prove to the world and to Oliver that he’s not a hero, he’s a killer, and he’s going to pull out one final, big whamo at the end that’s going to leave Oliver reeling. We might lose some people.”
If Arrow were to actually kill Diggle off, it would be a huge bomb and surprise everyone. It would totally shake up the dynamic show moving forward.
4. Talia Al Ghul
Talia Al Ghul double-crossed Oliver Queen, and she will soon regret her decision. In the season finale, we will see Talia team-up with Prometheus to take down Oliver and his temporary Team Arrow at the place where this all started: Lian Yu. There will be some casualties in this battle royale, and Talia is a prime candidate.
One way she could go out is fighting her sister Nyssa (who we've become familiar with over the years) and be killed during that battle. However, there are definitely more intriguing routes to take. For instance, we could see a huge reveal that Talia has secretly been on Oliver's side the entire time. If this is true, we know Chase won't be a fan of that and will end her life very quickly.
Curtis Holt has become the comic relief of Team Arrow and has had many character arcs on the show. He has continued to construct awesome tech and make us laugh, but ultimately, Curtis is a character who could die during the season finale. Arrow has been confirmed to be a lot different in Season 6 to the point where it will be almost a "soft reboot." Given that, I believe Team Arrow will shrink. Since Wild Dog and Dinah Drake have been confirmed for Season 6, Curtis is the one next in line to die. Felicity doesn't look like she's going anywhere — and in many ways, Curtis and Felicity are very similar characters. Given this, it's quite possible that Curtis dies in the season finale.
2. Malcolm Merlyn
Malcolm Merlyn has been a huge factor on Arrow for all five seasons. Since Legends of Tomorrow is over, Malcolm is heading back to Arrow and he will become a major part of the story in the next couple of episodes. But how much longer Malcolm Merlyn has left on the show is debatable. At Planet Comic-Con, actor John Barrowmen revealed his character won't be appearing next season. Also, executive producer Wendy Mericle discussed Merlyn's role in the next few episodes, and she made it sound like the character's run is almost complete:
"He's going to be a huge factor leading up to the finale. This season is all about legacy, and when Malcolm comes into the story, it’s really rooted as much by necessity from Oliver’s point of view as it is about what Malcolm means to him and what Malcolm means to Thea."
Of course, this doesn't confirm anything, but it does seem likely that Merlyn could bite the dust in the season finale. Personally, I love the Emerald Archer and his storyline should've ended in Season 4 by sacrifising himself for Thea and Team Arrow. If the actor isn't appearing next season, I really hope that the show respects the character and gives him a good ending rather than pushing him into the corner of irrelevance.
Only half of the main villains have died in their seasons. As we all know, Malcolm Merlyn and Deathstroke are still alive while Ra's Al Ghul and Damien Darhk indefinitely died. Given that, there's a 50/50 chance that the main occurring villain survives his season. However, there is no way that Adrian Chase makes it out of Season 5 alive.
The season finale is destined to leave Oliver broken and there will be many losses, but the show will not move on until Prometheus has an arrow through his chest. The whole season has revolved around the fact that Oliver is a monster who enjoys killing. However, we know that this is just a thought that Prometheus has glued in Oliver's head and that it is false. Oliver will have to come to terms with killing Adrian Chase because if he doesn't, Chase will never stop trying to destroy Oliver's life. Also, I think we can all agree that Chase definitely deserves to die after everything he's done.
