Despite being a fan favorite in Season 4 of Arrow, Echo Kellum's character Curtis Holt seems to have taken a step back in the first two episodes of Season 5. Aside from a powerful confrontation between him and Oliver, Curtis has been sidelined in Team Arrow so far, with more emphasis placed on Wild Dog and Ragman instead.
However, that's all set to change in the third episode of Season 5, A Matter of Trust, when Curtis will finally embrace the Mister Terrific moniker that his superhero counterpart uses in the comics.
Catch the first blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of Mister Terrific around the 22 second mark:
Why Is Mister Terrific A Big Deal?
Curtis may be pretty green still on Arrow, but in the comics, Mister Terrific cuts an impressive figure indeed. As the holder of five black belts, an Olympic Decathlon win and numerous degrees, Holt is a powerful force within the DC Universe.
Dubbed the third smartest man alive, Mister Terrific uses inventions known as T-Spheres to fight crime. These unique tools possess a vast range of capabilities, including:
- Holographic imagery
- Electrical charges
- Hacking abilities
- Cloaks Holt from digital detection
Check out a prototype of the T-Spheres on Arrow below:
As we've already seen a glimpse of these T-Spheres before on Arrow, it's only a matter of time before Curtis uses them out in the field. However, given the show's budget, it's likely that Arrow fans will see a weaker version of the T-Spheres that adhere more to real-life possibilities than what we're used to seeing in the comics.
What Does The Future Hold For Mister Terrific?
In the comics, Holt first adopts the mantle of Mister Terrific after the accidental death of his wife and unborn child, which has led fans to suspect that Holt's husband Paul could meet a tragic end at some point in Season 5.
Whether Arrow decides to go down this route or not though, there's also a distinct possibility that Curtis could eventually share future ties with the Justice Society of America. The super team have only just been introduced in Season 2 of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, but in the comics, Mister Terrific has become a vital member of the group over the years.
As the Arrowverse continues to grow in future seasons, it's not hard to imagine Curtis eventually outgrowing Oliver's teachings, and stepping out to make his own mark on the world, perhaps alongside the JSA.
