Arrow Season 5 has seen the return of the show to its former glory, redeeming itself in the eyes of fans after two sub-par seasons. The show has gone back to its roots, sticking to street level villains, and recapturing the magic of the first two seasons. A key factor in Arrow's resurgence is the introduction of the villain Prometheus, who seems to have an unknown connection to Oliver's past.

This wonderful season of #Arrow has also introduced many great characters to the universe, such as Human Target, Ragman, Artemis, and Vigilante. Lexa Doig (Stargate SG-1) will soon be added to this impressive list in her role as Talia al Ghul: the beloved daughter of Ra's al Ghul, and the mother of Bruce Wayne's son Damien in the comics. This announcement has many fans thinking that she could be the connection to bring Batman to the #Arrowverse, but it would seem that she is going to serve another purpose — one that has to do with this season's villain, Prometheus.

Daughter Of The Demon
Talia al Ghul's arrival on Arrow should not be too surprising to fans. The whole third season of the show was dedicated to Ra's Al Ghul and his connection to Oliver Queen — that borrowed heavily from the Batman story line from Detective Comics #411 . The show spent plenty of time at the home of the League of Assassins, and in Nanda Parbat with Nysaa and Ra's al Ghul.
Fans theorized that because of Talia's close ties with Bruce Wayne/Batman, she might not appear on Arrow at all.. This theory was proven wrong when a younger version of Talia appeared on Legends of Tomorrow, during an episode in which Sara Lance traveled to Nanda Parbat in the '50s, after becoming stranded in that time.
This season of Arrow is the first time we will see an adult version of Talia al Ghul, who will deal with Oliver directly, and somehow be connected to Prometheus — who has been running roughshod over Team Arrow for the entirety of Season 5. The question now is: Will she help Team Arrow in some capacity, or will she be working against them?'
What Will Talia Al Ghul's Role Be On 'Arrow'?
The Arrow mid-season premiere is a few weeks away, and we are still left wondering who Prometheus is, and what his true motives are. What we do know — thanks to Arrow EP Wendy Mercile in TVLine's 2017 preview — is that Talia Al Ghul will play a crucial part in the Prometheus story line. The executive producer's full quote is as follows:
Among new faces, Talia al Ghul plays a “crucial part” in unraveling the Prometheus mystery
This little tidbit of information is as misleading as it is informative. What we can surmise is, Talia either knows something about the identity of Prometheus, or was in collusion with him at one time. Based on Oliver's past with Talia's father, it seems unlikely that Talia is going to "come in peace", unless their interests align in some way.
The idea that she has had some past dealings with Prometheus — based on his physical skill set, I would guess League of Assassins — makes the most sense, explaining why Talia would become a "crucial part" of discovering Prometheus' identity. I wouldn't be surprised if after some rocky introductions, Talia comes to the aid of Team Arrow, as she has done for Batman in the comics.
When it comes down to it, Prometheus might be the toughest villain that Oliver Queen has ever faced. Not only is he a physical match for the Green Arrow, he has also been 10 steps ahead of Team Arrow every step of the way. Every time that Oliver thinks he has a lead, or has figured out Prometheus's plan, something else comes out of nowhere to blindside him — Laurel coming back from the dead is the most shocking example of this so far.
We still have no clue who Prometheus is, or why he is targeting Oliver specifically. Whenever we seem to be making some headway in uncovering his identity, the information we are given seems to be a red herring, rather than an actual clue. Hopefully, Talia al Ghul will help shine a light on one of the biggest mysteries in the Arrowverse - and if she doesn't do that, maybe she'll mention a certain "Dark Knight" she has dealt with in the past.

When all is said and done, Arrow Season 5 has brought the show back from the brink, and as fans, we couldn't be more thankful. We might not find out who Prometheus is until the end of the season, even if that is the case, then the reveal of his identity will be that much more exciting . Arrow is currently on it's mid-season break, but it will return on January 25th, 2017 8PM/ET on The CW.
