When the beloved Black Canary, Laurel Lance, was killed off during Arrow's fourth season, fans were understandably upset. Not only did it mean the end of the iconic comic book character's run on the show, it meant that actress Katie Cassidy would be leaving our screens. However, the following season, the showrunners decided to introduce a new Black Canary in the form of Dinah Drake (portrayed by Juliana Harkavy).
But thankfully, that wasn't the end of Cassidy's run with the show as she returned to the series as Black Siren (Laurel's evil Earth-2 doppelgänger), who instantly clashed with Dinah, not taking too kindly to the fact that Team Arrow decided to replace Earth-1 Laurel.
A Far Cry From Their Characters
While things got violent between the two Canaries on the show, things were very different in real life. And it's clear that Harkavy's casting on the show didn't lead to any bad blood between the two actresses, as the original Black Canary and her successor united at Comic-Con to show each other some "Canary love."
And we're just lucky that the official Arrow Instagram account posted a cute snap of the two awesome ladies together. Check it out below:
Cassidy beams with joy as Harkavy embraces her, giving her a little peck on the cheek. And we can't help but appreciate how totally awesome both actresses are. Thus far, their on-screen interactions have been brief, but it's awesome to see the Arrow veteran reacting so positively to the newest member of the show's family. You go, girls!
While Canary love may be blossoming at #SDCC2017, we should expect things to get a lot more vicious between Black Siren and Black Canary when Arrow returns for its sixth season in October. Prepare your ear plugs, because these Sirens are ready to scream.
