Last year, we were finally able to see Green Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and the Legends of Tomorrow coming together to protect the universe from the dreaded Dominators. This year's Arrowverse crossover is expected to be 10 times bigger, as even more heroes are joining the fight against a mysterious threat.
Note: this article contains spoilers for The CW's upcoming Arrowverse crossover "Crisis On Earth X."
Details on what our favorite crimefighters will be dealing with this time around are understandably scarce, but thankfully, we do have some pieces of the puzzle. Back in September, #TheCW released our first look at the event, which revealed that the story will center around #BarryAllen and Iris West's highly-anticipated wedding:
We assumed their union would be the event of the year, but as it turns out, their ceremony won't be the only major occurrence during the crossover. Barry and Iris will be pulling a double ceremony with –– drumroll please –– #OliverQueen and #FelicitySmoak.
Fans, Get Ready For A Double Wedding
With the crossover expected to drop next month, the cast and crew are already hard at work, filming the four episodes. Surprisingly, a set photo reveals a cool surprise for the shows' protagonists: Oliver, Felicity, Iris and Barry will be marrying at the same time, with the ever-loyal John Diggle by their side. Check out the happy couples:
I'm delighted to see that Oliver and #FelicitySmoak are finally tying the knot. The two have great chemistry and a lovely bond that shines through in pretty much every scene they're in, and I've been wanting to see them in a stable relationship since they first stared at each other. With that in mind, I can't wait to see how their ceremony plays out.
While having a second major wedding in the crossover doesn't necessarily raise the stakes of the event, it could definitely amp up the craziness to eleven. After all, four of the Arrowverse's most important characters are committing to each other.
Ollie and Barry share one of the most special relationships in the small screen franchise. So, in honor of their joint wedding, I wanted to take a look at three of their most touching moments together:
1. Green Arrow And The Flash Train Together
- When it happens: The Flash, Season 1, Episode 8
Before Supergirl and the Legends of Tomorrow came into the picture, Flash and Arrow united to fight off Captain Boomerang. At the time, though, Ollie and Barry barely knew each other, and being the obsessive loner he was, Oliver put Allen through a grueling training exercise, and the Scarlet Speedster got the short end of the stick. Still, the time they spent together served as a subtle bonding period, where the two discussed Barry's glaring weaknesses and how to fix them.
2. Ollie And Barry Meet Little William
- When it happens: The Flash, Season 2, Episode 8
Arrow Season 2 dropped the bombshell that Oliver Queen had a son whom he never knew existed. As the shows progressed, more hints for the boy started coming out, and the biggest came in during the Arrowverse's second crossover. While Ollie and Barry were in line in Jitters, Queen's son, William, bumped into them and dropped his Flash figure. Oliver quickly picked up the action figure and pointed out the funny coincidence.
I know, I know, this wasn't a heartfelt conversation between the two heroes, but I find it quite sweet that Barry was there for Ollie when he met his son for the first time. Plus, the fact that William was carrying a Flash action figure made the brief encounter all the more special.
3. Oliver Has A Heart-To-Heart With Barry After He Alters The Timeline
- When it happens: The Flash, Season 3, Episode 8
Barry has an affinity for screwing up the timeline, and one great example happened at the end of The Flash's second season. The speedster ran into the past to save his mother, but his decision set off a series of events that changed the world. Flash was able to return things to normal, but not without consequences, and some pretty major ones, such as Cisco's brother dying and Caitlyn now having powers.
As a result of that, by the time the Dominators crossover happened, Barry couldn't stop beating himself up for his actions. That's when Ollie stepped up.
Standing in Eobard Thawne's secret room, the Emerald Archer gave his friend a lesson on being a hero and learning from your mistakes. The scene was arguably one of the most touching moments in the Arrowverse yet, and it served as another example of Barry and Ollie's great friendship.
Like I said, these two characters are besties, so I can't wait to see how their weddings play out. "Crisis On Earth X," will be released on November 27.
