Just days after Starz announced the Season 3 premiere date for Ash vs Evil Dead, fans have been given the first look into the new gore-tastic installment. The photos indicate another bloody good time for Ash, Pablo and Kelly while they defend the world from evil — and they have some new members on their crew.
Here's the official plot synopsis for the third season premiering on Starz this February:
“The third season finds Ash’s status in Elk Grove, Michigan has changed from murderous urban legend to humanity-saving hometown hero. When Kelly witnesses a televised massacre with Ruby’s fingerprints all over it, she returns with a new friend to warn Ash and Pablo that evil isn’t done with them yet. Blood is thicker than water in the battle of good vs Evil Dead!”
The first image gives fans a closer look at the alternate Ruby spreading her evil after killing present-day Ruby and escaping banishment at the end of last season. This Ruby looks to be the newest adversary and leader of the demon world.
The loss of present-day Ruby will put the group at a noticeable disadvantage without her strength and knowledge of the Deadite manifestation. We see quite a few victims in that barn — is alternate Ruby looking for crucial information? Maybe about a specific family member of Ash?
Besides the presence of a new evil Ruby, much of the Season 3 plot will center around the revelation that Ash has a daughter, Brandy (Arielle Carver-O'Neill), from a relationship with a woman named Candy Barr. Brandy is a high schooler and somehow gets mixed into the fight considering the blood-soaked setting.
Ash may not be the most ideal father, but he will undoubtedly go to great lengths to protect his daughter. The teenager seems to fit well into the Ghostbeaters. If you can handle a bloodbath, you should be given a lifelong membership into the group — it's like an initiation at this point!
More New Characters
Brandy won't be the only new face of Season 3. Kelly has made a new friend since we last saw her: Dalton, played by Lindsay Farris, is described as a leather-wearing biker dude who isn't afraid to handle heavy artillery. Also, fans will get to witness a killer mascot — what could be better than that in a #horror comedy?
During the panel at #NYCC2017, the cast reiterated that each character will experience some sort of growth this season. Ash will be dealing with the newfound struggle of fatherhood, while Pablo and Kelly "fulfill their destiny," according to Dana DeLorenzo, who plays Kelly. Pablo will also get a handle on his brujo powers, making him capable of truly putting up a fight with the evil entities.
If that doesn't convince you, here is the legend himself, #BruceCampbell, expressing his thoughts on the upcoming season:
"You're gonna f**king pick your jaw up off the floor at the end of this season. And I wish I could tell you because I would love to see your jaws drop right now. But no. Download the app and watch it yourselves."
Okay, we're sold! Ash vs Evil Dead returns February 25, 2018 on Starz.
