Last weekend was a comic book fan's dream paradise with a plethora of content hitting the internet from both Marvel and DC. A new trailer, Guardians of the Galaxy character posters and more awesome news and artwork was just some of the fun bunch released by the studio giants. This week is no exception for awesome news as Atandwa Kani has joined the cast of Marvel's Black Panther!

Atandwa Kani Has Joined The Cast Of 'Black Panther'

The news comes from Atandwa Kani's twitter page, confirming his appearance in the Black Panther movie. The South African actor is the son of actor John Kani, who played King T'Chaka in Captain America: Civil War.

We still don't know who Kani is playing in the movie, but according to IMDB he is listed as a young T'Chaka. If so, then it's a safe bet will contain a few or more flashback scenes of the young king. With a possible appearance of the previous Black Panther.

Will We See More Than One Black Panther?

Before King T'Chaka died in Captain America: Civil War he was indeed the Black Panther before T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) was forced to take on the mantle. If we do see a flashback sequence in the movie, then the young T'Chaka as the Black Panther is a scene we'll most likely see, probably fighting against Ulysses Klaue's (Andy Serkis) early attacks on Wakanda.

Another possible flashback sequence we could see is T'Chaka's rise to the throne, teaching his young son the ways of the Black Panther. Possibly with the aid of Forest Whitaker's character, Zuri.

But if Atandwa Kani is not portraying a younger T'Chaka, then what other character could he be playing?

Could Atandwa Kani Be The Grim Reaper In the 'Black Panther' Movie?

The Black Panther movie currently has two main villains appearing the film, Eric Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) and Ulysess Klaue. While Killmonger will serve as the main antagonist in the film, it's likely that Klaue will be featured in a major key sequence, where he'll don his magnetic sonic claw from the comics. If such is the case then one other character that could meet the same fate as Klaue, and one who I would love to see Atandwa Kani play in the MCU, is Eric Williams a.k.a. the Grim Reaper.

In the comics the Grim Reaper wields a deadly techno-scythe where his right hand is supposed to be, which he also uses to create energy blasts when he is not shredding his enemies.

Say Williams is part of Klaue's evil vibranium-stealing henchmen. As punishment Klaue could possibly cut off Williams' hand for not accomplishing his tasks. And then as a form of vengeance, Williams could steal the same technology Klaue used to create his sonic claw and from that build his techno-scythe.

Another villain that will appear in the is Man-Ape, portrayed by Winston Duke. In the comics both Man-Ape and Grim Reaper have worked together. So, if Atandwa Kani is not playing a younger T'Chaka, then he would be a fantastic actor to portray the Grim Reaper!
