- Donald Glover Says He 'Wants People To Be Scared' When They Watch Atlanta
In a recent interview with The Advertiser, Donald Glover has revealed that the underlying thesis of Atlanta was to create a Show that reflected how it felt to be black — something that had to be felt rather than written down. He went on to state that while the characters do have their comedic moments, the audience is supposed to feel emotionally invested in their lives so for them not to become clown like. Speaking more specifically about experiencing life in America as a black person, Glover went on to state:
"I want people to be scared. That is how it feels to be black. There are awesome things going on but it (life) can be taken away at any moment. This show is about life and life has more questions than answers."
- Brian Tyree Henry Makes A Unique Atlanta Dig At Donald Trump
Brian Tyree Henry, who plays Paper Boi in Atlanta, has only recently joined Instagram, but has made quite an impact since doing so. Making his political opinions clearly known on his Insta page, mostly through a collection of text-heavy t-shirts, he's just uploaded an image of his newest one, and it might be his best.
Simultaneously denying Donald Trump the right to be acknowledged and bigging up his Atlanta co-star and creator, Donald Glover, we're hoping that Brian's t-shirt – which reads "the only Donald we acknowledge is Glover" – will be available for us all to purchase immediately!
- Atlanta Season 2 Delayed Until 2018
While we are all celebrating the fact that Donald Glover will be starring as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars movie, this has had an unfortunate knock-on effect for his Show. As a result of his commitment to the galactic blockbuster, FX has announced that while Glover will continue to work as Atlanta's writer, director, executive producer and star, Atlanta Season 2 will not air until 2018.
- Donald Glover Wins A Golden Globe For His Portrayal Of Earn In Atlanta
Winning out over the likes of Gael Garcia Bernal in Mozart in the Jungle, Nick Nolte in Graves and Jeffrey Tambor in Transparent, Donald Glover picked up his Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Comedy or Musical and dedicated the award to "all the black folks in Atlanta." He then went on to state in a press conference:
"I only cared about what people in Atlanta thought. You can't name a show Detroit and then have Detroit people hate it. I was only caring if my parents thought it was cool, if I could go to a Chick-Fil-A and see that people knew the new Donald Glover show."
- Zazie Beetz Opens Up About Her Struggle With Anxiety On Radio Podcast

Atlanta Season 2 Premiere Date
Having announced the he will be playing Lando Clarissian in the upcoming 'Han Solo' Star Wars movie, Donald Glover has had to move production until 2018, meaning that we will not be receiving the Atlanta Season 2 premiere date for at least a year. While news of the Series' renewal arrived while the first Season was still airing back in September, a date was never set for the Second Season.
However, it's not all bad news as it has since emerged that Donald has entered into a larger more longterm deal with FX, suggesting that much more of his work will be gradually popping up on the channel, while naturally remaining true to his "Twin Peaks with rappers" masterpiece.
Atlanta Season 2 Trailer
Unfortunately, because Atlanta Season 2 hasn't gone into production yet, there is currently no Atlanta Season 2 trailer (shocker!). However, the moment it's released we will make sure to update this page, for now however, you can watch and reminisce over the trailer for Atlanta Season 1. Ahh, such sweet, sweet memories.
Atlanta Season 2 Plot Rumors
If there's anything we learnt from Atlanta Season 1, it's to expect the unexpected. From black Justin Bieber's to hyper-woke white guilt martyrs, an Episode comprised entirely of commercial breaks and an internet troll who goes by the name of #Zansexual, week after week, we were constantly stunned and pleasantly surprised by the direction Donald took Atlanta in, and consequently Atlanta Season 2 plot rumors are anybody's guess.
However, one thing Donald is certainly going to do before putting pen to paper is to really get to grips with how the first Season was recieved. Speaking to Adweek he stated:
"I don't want to sit there and be like, 'Oh, I don't care what the audience thinks.' It does matter to me. I just want them to think, to be honest. I want them to think about it. I think Season 2 will be affected by how people take in the food we're giving them, essentially. I don't know what that means, but I want to see how it all fits with them. Because I think that's part of our making art is that we're in this together. It's a dance, really."
Atlanta Season 2 Cast & Characters
Donald Glover As Earnest 'Earn' Marks
Leading the pack of Atlanta's Season 2 cast & characters will almost certainly be the Show's most hard grafting Princeton dropout, Earn, who over the course of the first Season, goes from working some dead-end job in an airport to becoming his cousin, Paper Boi's, manager — to mixed success. Trying his best to support his young daughter with on-again, off-again love interest, Van, while Earn's heart is usually in the right place, he sometimes gets a bit distracted along the way.
Brian Tyree Henry As Alfred 'Paper Boi' Miles
With lightning quick texting skills, a no-nonsense attitude and a keen eye for when he's being played, Earn's cousin Alfred splits his time between dealing and trying to make it as a rapper under the stage name 'Paper Boi.' However, his image is constantly being tainted by his involvement in various violent criminal acts, not to mention the time he lost it and floored a black Justin Bieber during a charity basketball match.
Keith Stanfield As Darius
A prophet, a stoner and a sage, Darius has been referred to as many things throughout Atlanta's first Season, and yet he is notable for being somewhat indefinable. While acting as Paper Boi's second hand man, Darius definitely adds a more spiritual dimension to the Show, saying things which can from one perspective seem benign and from the other, deeply profound.
Zazie Beetz As Vanessa 'Van' Keefer
The most prominent female role in Atlanta, Earn is Van's ex boyfriend, and the father of her daughter. Often driven to the verge of exasperation with Earn's perpetual failed attempts to provide for them, Van, especially in the earlier Episodes of the Season, comes across as the most level headed, responsible character of the Show. However, as Atlanta progresses, we soon realize that Van too has her faults, which ultimately may not be to different from the flaws she complains about in Earn.
