Guns, fights and a love story are all we need for a good action flick — just ask John Wick. His spiritual cousin, MI6 special assassin Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron), is taking over the spotlight in this summer's Atomic Blonde, directed by John Wick's David Leitch, and it looks absolutely killer.
Atomic Blonde 'Father Figure' Clip
Atomic Blonde won't be out 'til July, but with its latest clip shows what happens when bad guys try to kill #CharlizeTheron in a kitchen full of knives, a rope and a deadly refrigerator door, all while George Michael's "Father Figure" plays in the background:
As you can see above, Broughton is a complete badass with more tricks up her sleeve than even John Wick on his best day with a double-sharpened number two pencil.
Theron stars alongside James McAvoy, who plays Broughton's international contact, David Percival. Together they try and find who really killed Broughton's former lover.
Where Else Have We Seen Charlize Theron And James McAvoy Recently?
In The Fate of the Furious, we saw Charlize Theron play the villainous Cipher. An internationally wanted criminal and cybernetic terrorist, Cipher is the toughest and most ruthless villain the Fast & Furious family has ever faced. So high was Cipher's threat to Dom that he even betrayed his own familia to keep them safe.
James McAvoy also played a villain recently when he starred in last year's hit thriller, Split. The M. Night Shyamalan movie told the story of Kevin, a man with 23 different personalities. While the movie was a major success both critically and financially, the greatest takeaway audiences got from the movie was the revelation (spoiler alert) that Split is a sequel to Shyamalan's 2000 superhero flick, Unbreakable.
Theron and McAvoy will join forces in Atomic Blonde, which hits theaters July 28. This looks like a film you don't want to miss!
