In a world where Asgardian gods can strike down thunder and men fly around in iron suits, it seems rather strange that death is the only thing that's a fantasy in the MCU. Aside from Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel stars have been given a free pass from the grim reaper so far. However, now that the original Avengers roster are heading to the end of their contracts, rumors suggest that Captain America may literally bite the bullet in time for Chris Evans to exit the MCU.
During an interview with Ellen this week, Evans was asked whether he would hang up the Star Spangled Avenger's shield soon, to which Chris replied;
“My contract is up. I have Avengers three and four. We do three now and four in the latter part of the year and then after that, that is the end of my contract.”
While talk quickly veered away from the specifics of this "retirement," it sure does sound like Evans's version of Captain America may soon be heading towards that OAP retirement home in the sky.
Catch Ellen's interview with Chris Evans in the clip below:
“It’s really not up to me. My contract is up. I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘No more. I love the character. The only reason it would end is ‘cause my contract is up. After Avengers 4, my contract is done. Talk to Marvel. If we engage further, I’d be open to it. I love the character. It’s almost like high school. You certainly always look to senior year, and then, all of a sudden, senior year happens and you’re like, ‘I don’t know if I’m ready to go.’ It’s tough thinking about not playing the guy.”
Even with the power of the super soldier serum flowing through his veins, it seems that Chris Evans is powerless to prevent the potential death of Captain America in #Avengers4, or at the very least, his early retirement.

If you want to see Chris Evans and those superhuman abs continue to fight the good fight in the MCU, now's the time to petition #Marvel Studios before it's too late. We've got to say though — wouldn't it be rather fitting if Thanos used the Infinity Stones to bring the Red Skull back in Avengers 4, killing Captain America off once and for all?
Do you think Chris Evans will retire as Captain America after Avengers 4?
