I know what you're thinking. "What's the deal with Hank Pym, Mark?" Oh, you weren't thinking that? Well, you are now! Luckily, I have just the answers to all your burning Hank Pym related questions.
At the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con revealed that Hank Pym would not be making an appearance in the newly titled The Avengers: Age Of Ultron. This was surprising to some as Pym is the genius who originally created Ultron. In a separate interview Ant-Man director did reveal Pym would be in his superhero movie, but didn't specify if he would take the titular role.
Now Marvel's information-confirmation-machine Kevin Feige has arrived to deliver some exciting and potentially spoilerific news. So, if you want to remain 100% pure for The Avengers 2, maybe you should stop reading now. In an interview with Empire, Feige explained what we can expect from Pym. Feel free to watch the 10 minute interview below, or scroll on down for the relevant Hank Pym quote:
Hank Pym will play a very big role in his own movie, which is released after the Avengers. When you see and talk to other people about the title reveal that we did, they will tell you that what it was, was an Iron Man helmet that was slowly meticulously being bashed and ripped and sparked and torn apart into an Ultron face.
"A very big role in his own movie"? Well, I don't know about you, but I think that is all but confirming our upcoming iteration of Ant-Man will indeed feature Hym as the diminutive superhero. But what about that Iron Man mask turning into Ultron's face? Could this be hinting that Tony Stark is actually responsible for building Ultron — perhaps as an attempt to built an autonomous and intelligent Iron Man? Who knows? But without Hank Pym in The Avengers 2, Joss Whedon will have to come up with another explanation for the evil robotic super-foe.
What do you think? Would you like Tony Stark to build Ultron, or do you prefer its canonical creation? Let me know in the comments section below.
