Believe it or not, #InfinityWar is only a little over a year away from breaking ticket sale records and fulfilling our souls. Once in a while, a huge detail will drop about the #Marvel blockbuster that gets us even more excited.
Not only does that make us wish May 4, 2018 would come sooner but it raises a whole lot of questions. For instance, does this mean that Asgard survives the events featured in Thor: Ragnarok? And if so, how does the realm of Asgard fit into the colossal Avengers: Infinity War?
How Could Asgard Fit Into The 'Avengers: Infinity War' Storyline?
Asgard was heavily featured in Thor and in its sequel, Thor: The Dark World, and will be in the final installment in the trilogy, Thor: Ragnarok. However, The Avengers movies have never visited the home of the Asgardians due to one simple reason: They haven't gone to space yet. As we all know, the Avengers will finally travel into space to defeat the Mad Titan himself in Infinity War.
Presumably in Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy will finally meet for the first time. From there, the story could go anywhere, but the inclusion of Asgard in the movie gives a big hint of how the story could continue. The Guardians could recruit the Avengers to help them defeat the mighty Thanos from collecting all six Infinity Stones and destroying the entire universe.
Thanos Will Travel To Asgard To Collect The Space Stone
Thanos will need to travel across the universe to retrieve all of the Infinity Stones. At first, he hired other minions like Loki and Ronan the Accuser to find the Stones but as we saw in the Avengers: Age of Ultron post-credit scene, Thanos is ready to do it himself.
The six Infinity Stones are scattered across the Marvel Universe and we know where five of the six of them are located. While one lies in Doctor Strange's Eye of Agamotto and another is placed in the middle of Vision's forehead (R.I.P.), the Space Stone is currently sitting in Odin's vault on Asgard. Thanos is clearly going to collect all six Infinity Stones by the climax of Infinity War, therefore having Asgard in the movie makes perfect sense.
The casting call said that the extras will "need to be comfortable with fake blood and with wearing special effects makeup." In that context, we should expect Thanos and his army to attack Odin's vault with the goal of receiving the Space Stone, which was featured in Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers.
Also titled the Tesseract in the MCU, the Space Stone is an unlimited source of energy and power and is also one of the six puzzle pieces that will complete the Infinity Gauntlet — which could very easily destroy the entire universe if it fell onto the wrong hands. Naturally, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy will do anything to keep the Infinity Stone out of Thanos' reach. If they do travel to Asgard, they will re-unite with some other friendly faces.
Could The Avengers Will Re-Unite With Thor, Hulk, And Loki In Asgard?
Thanos going to Asgard to find the Space Stone is only one reason why the Asgardian home will be featured in Avengers: Infinity War. Let us not forget that Thor, Hulk, Doctor Strange, and Loki are all situated in Asgard. Considering they are key players in the story, we might meet them first in Asgard after the events of Ragnarok.

However, according to set pictures and rumors, Thor, Loki, and Doctor Strange could return to Earth either at the end of Thor: Ragnarok or in a post-credit scene in an attempt to find Odin. Also, Doctor Strange and Thor make a deal that Thor or Loki must never return to space ever again (probably because of all the damage they caused in the film).
As we know, that will likely be broken as we should expect Thor and even Loki to fight alongside the rest of the Avengers. This rumor lines up except for one major plot hole: Where's the Hulk?
I do believe that most of what I said above is going to be true, but there is more to it than that. Hulk could get stranded somewhere in the Nine Realms like in the famous "Planet Hulk" storyline that Thor: Ragnarok will take inspiration from. Thor and Loki could go on a mission in the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War to find Banner and when the Avengers arrive in space, they could reconnect with Thor for the first time since he wandered off in Age of Ultron.
No matter what happens, Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel will probably be the most epic superhero movies to date.
